What follows is a brief explanation of the Immigration Relief we can help you with at the moment

DACA Renewals

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals

  • If you had DACA in the past, you can now renew it due to a court order.
  • However, you cannot apply for DACA now if you never had it before.
  • You cannot apply for Advance Parole (permission to travel out of U.S.).
  • Get a Social Security Number before your DACA card expires.

VAWA

Violence Against Women Act

  • Victim of abuse by USC/LPR family member:
    • Spouse,
    • Adult child (> 21),
    • Parent
  • Any credible evidence of abuse – no reporting to police required.
  • Can include minor children.

SIJS

Special Immigrant Juvenile Status

  • Child (under 21 and not married) who is in the US and cannot be reunited with one or both parents because of abuse, neglect, abandonment or similar reason. 
  • Need Court Order placing the child in the custody of someone, finding that child cannot live with one or both parents, and finding that it is not in the child’s best interests to return to home country.
  • Child cannot later petition for parents even after child becomes a citizen.

U VISA

Victims of Criminal Activity

Victim of certain crimes in US or in violation of US laws.​
  • Crime must be reported to authorities & victim must cooperate.
  • Need certification signed by US law enforcement.
  • Applicants over 21 can include unmarried children under 21 / spouse.
  • Applicants under 21 can include children, spouse, siblings under 18 & parents.
